Making optimal use of breastfeeding for birth spacing: planning for action within the health sector

Published in JHL in 1986, this paper predates LAM (the “lactation amenorrhea method”). It promotes a completely different vision, suggesting health workers teach mothers who do not want to (or are allowed to) use modern contraceptive methods how to optimize the birth spacing effects of breastfeeding.

My Recommendations

There are literally hundreds of books about breastfeeding to choose from. I’ve tried below to sort out some of the most reliable, most up to date books on a variety of breastfeeding-related subjects to recommend, giving a little comment on each.

Another great gift, not available from Amazon, is a membership in Baby Milk Action, which includes a subscription to a paper copy of their newsletter, my favorite of the excellent ones various IBFAN groups issue.
