The building of nutrition institutions: A search for guiding principles, based on SIDA experience in Africa

September 8th, 1989

This paper is one of a kind but was never published. This version was presented to the United Nations ACC/SCN (now the Standing Committee on Nutrition). No other donor agency has so patiently supported the building of nutrition capacity in Africa for such a long period. This paper tries to draw some lessons, and finds that when donor goals shift from “doing good” to “building a country’s capacity to do good”, some interesting changes in perception take place.
