Exclusive Breastfeeding, Attitudes among white women in Harare, Zimbabwe

June 8th, 1993

This so-called “Minor Field Study,” financed by Sida via the Uppsala University International Child Health unit, was carried out by Jaroslava Vagner and Helene Zättlin, with me as supervisor. These women felt a great deal of pressure to breastfeeding, something they did not do before Zimbabwe became independent over a decade earlier. It shows the crucial role played by a single local expert lactation consultant, Pamela Morrison.
