HIV and Infant Feeding — A REPORT OF A WABA-UNICEF COLLOQUIUM

Held in Arusha, Tanzania on 21-22 September 2001, this was the first and so far only meeting intending to bring together the HIV and breastfeeding scientific ”communities” to look at the issues more holistically, learn from each other, and find common ground as far as possible. I joined Arjan de Wagt of UNICEF in putting together the program and edited the proceedings.

Iron deficiency anemia in Tarahumara women of reproductive age in Northern Mexico

This paper is based on one of the studies Dr. Joel Monarrez did for his PhD. It is the first population-based survey of anemia among the Tarahumara. This was an enormous task, as this population is scattered in small communities in mountainous areas, many of which have no roads.
